The Ballaarat Mechanic’s Institute, one of the city’s oldest institutions, was constructed in two stages in 1860 and 1869, and is on the Register of Historic Buildings.

Take a guided tour or wander through the beautiful subscription library which has operated continuously for more than 140 years and has over 500 current members.
