Montrose Cottage
111 Eureka Street, Ballarat
This four bedroom Georgian dwelling was one of the first bluestone residences on the goldfields. The cottage, which rises from the road behind a simple iron fence, was constructed of handmade bricks and sits on basalt foundations quarried less than a mile away.
Montrose is a tribute to the craftsmanship of Scottish stonemasons. The National Trust - listed home has been converted into an
upmarket B&B.
