As part of the Ballarat Heritage Weekend, there will be a talk about researching local and family history with PROV and staff will be available at an information stall to answer questions about researching your family history.

Country Women's Association,
Ballarat District Group

The Country Women's Association presents its acclaimed lecture series “Heritage from Women’s Perspective” and showcases beautiful community craftwork.

Leading Ballarat historian and past contributor, Dr. Anne Beggs Sunter, will introduce four speakers who will focus on past and present initiatives by women to improve the comfort and well being of women and their families, including the history of the CWA in Victoria, particularly the CWA’s famous Rest Rooms, early women’s welfare advocate and pioneer Caroline Chisholm, initiatives for indigenous women and children and a women’s Community Art Project which includes beautiful appliqué embroidery.

Speakers: Brenda Stevens - Chambers, author of recently launched CWA history, “The Feisty Phoenix: Dr Flossie Peitsch, Flo-Art Project Director: Clara Geoghan, BA BTheol GradDipEd PhD (candidate) and Karen Heap, Chief Executive Officer, Ballarat & District Aboriginal Co-operative.
