History with Haymes

Haymes paint is excited to share in the Heritage weekend with a display that is both static and interactive, showing both the past and present view of the company particularly focusing on its home in Ballarat. There will be an area dedicated to mixing paint colours for the public with a competition around a new Haymes paint colour that we can release into the market in 2020. (Competition details prior to the event)

Ballarat Frolic Festival

In the past, LGBT+ history has been suppressed due to a combination of religion, law, and public sentiment. Ballarat Frolic Festival in conjunction with the Australian Lesbian and Gay Archives present a selection of examples of same sex attracted individuals living their lives in the gold rush era. Learn about Captain Moonlight, a gay bushranger who moved comfortably through both the upper and lower circles of society; And Edward De Lacy Evans, a person who while having been born female, happily lived the majority of his life as a man, working as a miner and taking a wife.

National Trust Ballarat Branch

The National Trust Ballarat Branch will be in the majestic Town Hall providign information not only about Ballarat activities, but National and International properties you can visit. The best selling books ‘Corner Stores of Ballarat’ and ‘The Bluestone of Ballarat’ will also be available.

On display will also be this year’s Heritage Award winners and finalists, including the People’s Choice award winner as well
